What is 2toDrive?

Thanks to 2toDrive, the Dutch accompanied driving scheme, you can start driving lessons from age 16.5. And as soon as you are 17, you can take your driving test! Passed? Then you may hit the road, accompanied by one or more coaches of your choice, until your 18th birthday. So you no longer have to wait until you are 18 to start driving.

  • Until 18, drive with a coach beside you
  • After that, hit the road on your own

So you do not have to wait until you are 18.

In 5 steps

From 16 to 18

From age 16 you can take your theory exam. The certificate is valid for 1.5 years.

From 16.5 you can start practical lessons and apply for your coach pass.

From 17 you can take the practical exam for a category B licence.

After passing, you apply for your driving licence at the municipality. It is only issued once your coach pass has been approved.

Until your 18th birthday you drive accompanied by your coach(es). From 18 you may hit the road on your own!
